FliteskinTM sheeting

WheelWell.jpg

FliteskinTM is a fiberglass sheet with a built in smooth finish. It combines sheeting, glassing and finishing in 1 product, saving countless weeks of sanding and priming work. It is the closest representation of the real sheet metal finish of the full size aircraft without the extra weight.                         See the Applications section for details.

Features:

  • Flexible to go around curves
  • Superb tensile & compression strength characteristics.
  • Can be glued directly to open frame structures or foam cores.
  • Fuel proof and weather proof.
  • Can be primed and painted right away or used bare.
  • Eliminates exposure to epoxy resin for those who are allergic.
  • It allows thin, very strong trailing edges that don't chip or dent.
  • See through skin allows precision cuts over plans, ribs and formers.

Available in sheets of 36" by 48" (91cm x 121cm) except where noted

  • .007" (.178mm) thick $57.50

  • .007"  (.178mm)  36"x 24" (91cmx 60cm) (Half  sheet). $28.50

  • .010" (.254mm) thick  $49.50

  • .010" (.254mm) thick. 36"x 24" (91cmx 60cm) (Half  sheet). $25.50

  • .012" (.30mm) thick  36"x 24" (91cmx 60cm) (Half  sheet).$29.90

The .007 sheets are most preferable for tail, control surfaces, lining, etc. For skinning wings of about 80" (180cm.) span .010 works very well.

Very sharp leading edges, wing tips with compound curves should be glassed the traditional way after the top and bottom of the wing have been skinned (see applications page). If a metallic leading edge is desired, Aluminum tape  can be used to achieve scale looking results.
